Asana Recovery at ‘Prevention in the Park’ Last Weekend
Outreach staff (and alumni!) Kimberly Brave and Brittany Schoelen represented Asana Recovery at the ‘Recovery and Prevention in the Park’ event last weekend in Scissortail Park in OKC. The family-friendly event provided information and resources for drug abuse prevention and recovery - and had a great turnout despite being the hottest day of the year.
The only out-of-state recovery center among the vendors, Asana Recovery offered pamphlets about the program, ree promotional items and raffled off gift cards. Brittany Schoelen and Kimberly Brave, who are both Aana Recovery outreach staff as well as alumni, spoke of their own recovery journey.
“We made a lot of new connections and saw familiar faces too,” Kimberly said. “We were excited that most of our gift card winners are in recovery themselves. The winner of the $200 card was in tears when she told us she has been sober for almost a year. It brought us so much joy to have such a positive impact in our community. Even though we thought we would melt in the heat!”
