We invite alumni of Asana Recovery to join us for an alumni support group meeting!
Our meeting will be held today, February 21st, 2022 at 7PM PST via Zoom.
As alumni, you are now part of the Asana Recovery family. Our open alumni group is offered to those who have attended and completed programming at Asana Recovery. We created this group to offer you support beyond treatment. Our purpose is to give past patients the opportunity to discuss concerns and topics related to recovery and wellbeing.
This is not a 12-step group, nor is this a group designed to replace individual or group therapy. This is a peer support group where we help each other as equals in the virtual space. While feedback or support is offered by the group leader, we encourage alumni to provide feedback as well. Your input is important and essential in our virtual space.
Here are some things to keep in mind if you plan on attending:
Group members are expected to show up to group meetings sober and cannot attend if under the influence of drugs or alcohol, including marijuana.
Please ensure that you are in a confidential space where there will be no interruptions or anyone to overhear the group conversation.
We encourage you to come prepared to discuss recovery related concerns, successes, and challenges. As you share your experiences, we ask you to be mindful of time constraints. Please keep shares around 3-5 minutes long, so everyone has an opportunity to speak. There will be a time keeper.
As you give feedback to other group members, we ask that you do so with sensitivity and respect. Use “I statements” when giving feedback to others. When in doubt, you can use statements such as “I feel,” “I related,” and “I noticed.”
We ask group members not to talk over each other. Please wait until other group members complete their share to speak. Feel free to unmute or use the raise hand feature on Zoom to share next.
Avoid giving medical or clinical advice to others, we share in this space as peers, not as doctors or therapists.
Please use recovery oriented language, as excessive cursing can sometimes trigger others.
Maintaining strict confidentiality is critical to the development of a safe, respectful, and trusting atmosphere that allows individuals to openly share with one another. The responsibility for confidentiality is shared among the group facilitator and all group members. What is said here, stays here.
If you need to leave early, please indicate this in the chat. We look forward to seeing you again next time.
