Asana Recovery Admissions Director Heads to Capitol Hill to Lobby for Substance Abuse Treatment Legislation & Attend Conference
Amber Vaughan heads to National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP) conference next week
Asana Recovery is excited to announce that admissions director, Amber Vaughan, will head to the nation’s capital from May 21 to 23, 2023, for the 44th annual NAATP addiction leadership conference.
Not only will she have the opportunity to learn from the country’s preeminent executives, scholars, business leaders and consultants in the field of addiction treatment, but she will also join the NAATP on May 24 for Hill Day 2023. At Capital Hill, they will lobby Senators, Congressional Representatives, and Congressional Staff for Substance Abuse Treatment Legislation.
“I’m excited for the chance to learn from the top experts in the field and to grow as a professional,” Amber says. “There will be some cutting-edge presenters, like Regina LaBelle, JD, from Georgetown University and John Kelly, Ph.D., from Harvard Medical School discussing ‘The Research Science & Political Science of Substance Use Disorder Treatment,’ and many other industry leaders.”
“And I’m inspired to spur action in Congress to move the issue of addiction out of invisibility and into the spotlight,” Amber adds. “Historically, addiction has been treated like a ‘personal’ or ‘private’ issue. But it affects every aspect of society. Our elected leaders need to understand that fact and our legislation should reflect it.”
