Happy New Year's, Happy Recovery!
Introducing Alumni Spotlight, the Asana app, local alumni events and more
For those of us in recovery - like others who have faced down potentially-fatal illnesses - the holidays can be a time of incredible gratitude, a chance to savor the precious things in life. However, it can also be a time of increased stress or even, sometimes, trigger sadness about the things we have lost or “failed” at due to our addiction.
We have a three-step suggestion for dealing with negative emotions.
Whatever you’re feeling, acknowledge your emotion and be gentle with yourself. It’s most likely a very natural and understandable emotion - and criticizing yourself will not help you feel any better.
Don’t use - no matter how painful or uncomfortable your emotions are.
Get up and do something that connects you with recovery.
Now, go find all the joy, fun and blessings the holidays offer and take on the New Year with hope! Also… don’t use - no matter what!
Coming Soon: Alumni Spotlight
We’re re-envisioning our Alumni Newsletter!
Going forward, you can look forward to Asana news in your inbox once a week with a spotlight section that will help you feel inspired (yet real) by sharing in the struggles and successes (both big and little) of some of your fellow alums.
Want to share your life and learning with other alums by being featured in the Alumni Spotlight? Contact your admissions counselor or email Amber.Vaughan@asanarecovery.com.
Local Events for Asana Alumni
We’re working hard to organize local events to help Asana alums stay connected to recovery - and to each other! Check upcoming newsletters for events in your area!
The Asana App: Stay Connected to Recovery on Your Phone
The soon-to-be-launched Asana app allows Asana Alums to keep their recovery at their fingertips - with their SmartPhone. Available for iPhone or Android, the app lets you check in, read daily reflections and even earn points. You can download the app in the App Store (It has the Asana logo and is called “Asana Recovery.)
