On Thursday, February 10, 2022, staff and clients of Asana Recovery participated in an hour-long opioid response training class. End Overdose, a non-profit organization, came into our outpatient facility to provide education on a number of topics, including:
How to identify the signs and symptoms of a pre-overdose
How to identify an active overdose
How to administer naloxone
How to administer proper aftercare for someone who has overdosed
The class was conducted by Michael Madden and AJ Banuelos. Each participant was provided with a Narcan kit, CPR mask, pamphlet, and t-shirt.
Theo Krzywicki, End Overdose founder and chief executive officer, has first hand experience with opioid overdose. He has battled addiction himself and is currently 11 years sober. After losing his fiancé and many friends to overdose, he wanted to help others and chose to become a firefighter paramedic. In this role, he revived countless lives with Narcan, and became determined to share his skills and training with others.
