New Hires and the Reason for February's Contrariness
Asana Recovery Weekly Team Update February 27, 2023
New Hire Spotlight
Tony Familian
New Asana Recovery Case Manager, Tony Familian, got clean and sober on November 22, 1989. He graduated from National University in 2004 with a BA in Human Behavior with a minor in addictive disorders.
A creative person, Tony has many hobbies. He enjoys being outside on the golf course, going to the gym, BBQing, and going river rafting. He also loves spending time with his son, grandson, and his German Shepard, Shotzi.
Victor Vega
Victor Vega, a new Behavior Health Technician at Asana Recovery, is an aspiring entrepreneur and an amateur mechanic. He enjoys working on cars and driving his car at the track. Victor is also a musician. He loves making and producing music and - of course! - listening to music.
Victor came to work in the field of addiction recovery after having family struggle with addiction. He said he witnessed firsthand the “benefits and potential of recovery programs to help addicts find their path to life, as well as re-create and strengthen their bonds with their family or themselves.” He believes recovery can help people with substance addiction “rise to greater potential in life, one that they may have lost connection with or never found before.”
Cindy Gonzalez
New Medical Technician, Cindy Gonzalez, has always enjoyed helping and inspiring people, which is what led her to join the Asana Recovery team. An enthusiastic proponent of #camperlife, she lives in an RV with her cat, Chevy (yes, named after the car brand).
Cindy studied as a Medical Assistant and Certified Nursing Assistant in college and enjoys nature and going exploring. She also likes writing, fishing, and binge-watching Netflix.

The answer to last week’s trivia question: The term “leap” is supposed to describe how the calendar catches up with the Earth’s orbit. By adding a 29th day to February, the calendar year was synchronized with the astronomical year, according to ancient Romans who devised the calendar. Perhaps not coincidentally, the Romans also believed February to be the unluckiest month of the year. No wonder it feels like it’s actually the longest month!
Last week’s winner is: Bobby C.
