Becoming the Mother That Will Make Her Kids Proud: Alumni Spotlight on Amanda Boring
Asana Recovery Alumni Newsletter, March 24, 2023
Realizing What Matters
Life didn’t stop - or fix itself - while Amanda Boring was in the Asana Recovery program. But, after two months of recovery, she’s better able to do the things necessary “so that life flows easier for my family and loved ones,” she says.
“Asana helped me open my eyes and realize what matters again,” Amanda says.
For Amanda, the things that matter are getting a job so she can regain custody of her kids and also fixing her house. They are not easy tasks. But, with almost six months of recovery and the new skills Amanda gained at Asana Recovery, she is able to face the challenge.
Amanda is committed to “being the mother that will make my kids proud again. Because nothing at all can compare to the feeling of your children being proud of you.”
Meaningful Connections and Finding Happiness
While regaining custody of her children is the “missing link to true happiness” for Amanda, she has found things to appreciate throughout her recovery journey. Thanks to Asana Recovery, she says she rediscovered her happiness and ability to thrive.
“I didn’t meet a single person at Asana Recovery, employee or participant, that I didn’t enjoy getting to know,” Amanda says. “It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I thank everyone for loving me until I could love myself again.”
